You are invited to a Board Candidate Forum

7:00 p.m.
Fennville H.S. Sheehan Auditorium.

Citizens will be able to hear from each of the four candidates
running for a seat on the Fennville Public Schools Board of
Education and will have the opportunity to ask questions. Two
open seats on the Board will be filled at the Tuesday, May 5, 2009
school election.

School Board Candidate Profiles
Four candidates are vying for two seats on the Fennville Board of
Education.  Both positions are four-year terms.

John Gooding has been a life-long Fennville resident.  He has
worked at Johnson Controls for sixteen years as an Industrial
Electrician.  John and his wife, Angie, have three children
attending Fennville Public Schools with their fourth child starting
school next year.  “I have coached tee-ball in the community
recreation program for many years and watched many of our
kids that go to our school now start their athletic careers at
Fennville Public Schools.”

Rolando Martinez is a Manufacturing Supervisor at Parker
Hannifin HPD in Otsego.  He and his wife, Diana, are both
Fennville graduates and have two children attending Fennville:
Mario (8th grade) and Marcus (3rd grade).  He has volunteered
as a coach for the Fennville summer baseball leagues and is an
avid supporter of Blackhawk athletics.  “As a candidate, I bring a
strong background in leadership, management, coaching, and
mentoring.  Over the last few years I’ve seen strong efforts made
by members of our community in trying to improve our schools,
and I would also like to have a positive impact.  I take great pride
in our town and school.  Being a member of the school board is a
great opportunity to give back to the school district as well as the
community.”

John Raak was born and raised in Fennville and is employed with
FBN, Inc. in their sales department.  He attended MSU and has an
associate’s degree in horticulture.  John and his wife, Cris, have
been married 22 years and have three children: Michael (a
Fennville graduate attending Alma College), Nicole (6th grade),
and Madison (4th grade).  “Cris and I are very active with the
Fennville Public Schools in many ways.  I’m looking forward to
continuing these efforts by running for a seat on the Board of
Education.”

Dana Rosema has a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from
GVSU and worked for the Michigan Department of Human
Services before deciding to be a stay-at-home mom.  She and her
husband, Brian, have four children: Clay (2nd grade), Ava (in the
Co-op Preschool program), and Lila and Quinn (both two years
old).  “My husband and I have lived in Fennville for six years and
love it!  I have sat on the Co-op Preschool Board the last two
years, serving as Vice President and Treasurer last year and as
President this year.  I also participated in the site visit involved
with hiring our new superintendent.  I would now love the
opportunity to serve on the Board of Education.”
